Legal hold is a process that companies use to preserve all forms of relevant information when a litigation or investigation is reasonably anticipated. A corporation’s failure to promptly impose a legal hold can result in significant court-ordered sanctions.

Many corporations have largely deployed legal hold tools to manage their workflows, but advancing trends include:

    • Increased automation of processes

    • Integration with upstream and downstream systems

    • Using machine-learning to drive automation to increase compliance and decrease risk

This session will focus on these advancing trends and future opportunities for integration and automation across other corporate systems

Sean Riley is a principal in Deloitte Transactions and Business Analytics LLP and has more than 20 years of Information Technology experience spanning a broad spectrum of disciplines. He has managed large forensic data collections, complex electronic discovery workflows, and has assisted counsel with technical custodian interviews. These efforts were in support of disputes arising in response to civil litigation, SEC, IRS, OTS, and DOJ inquiries. Sean has helped review, update, and implement effective data discovery procedures for corporate legal departments, complex litigation, and for document processing facilities.

Krishnan Ramachandran is a manager in Deloitte Transactions and Business Analytics LLP. Krishnan has over 10 years of business and consulting experience including program and strategy assessment for multiple clients across industries. He has led cross-functional teams in the areas of information governance, legal hold, compliance, and mergers & acquisitions.
