    The Dark Arts in Records Management

    Procedures and documentation for training and data entry will be presented and discussed by staff of the Records Management Department of the NYC Economic Development Corporation.

    •  Training:  why and how; things that go bump in the dark; checklists, milestones and metrics
    •  Data entry:  how to ensure better accuracy, completeness and consistency, with a minimum of direct staff supervision

    Presented by Fred Grevin and Jim Andrisani

     Fred Grevin is Vice-President, Records Management, for the New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC), a not-for-profit corporation.

    He is responsible for:

    • developing corporate strategies and policies for records management, in particular the management of electronic records,

    • implementing these strategies and policies, and

    • managing the operations of the NYCEDC Records Management Department.

    Prior to joining NYCEDC, Fred was Deputy Commissioner and CIO of the NYC Department of Records and Information Services and Director of the Office of Records and Archives Management at the NYC Department of Environmental Protection.

    He is currently teaching a course in Digital Preservation at the Graduate School of Library & Information Studies, Queens College and has previously taught courses at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Continuing Education, the Palmer School of Library and Information Science, and at the NYC College of Technology.

    Fred has a Licence ès Lettres in archaeology and art history from the University of Dijon (now the University of Burgundy), France.

    Fred is a Participating Member of the U.S. Technical Advisory Group (TAG) and of the National Fire Protection Association Standards Committee for the U.S. National Standard NFPA 232 “Protection of Records”. He is also a member of ARMA International, AIIM, the Society for Imaging Science and Technology, the Archivists Round Table of NYC, the Computer Society of the IEEE, and is an Associate Member of the French Fédération Nationale des Tiers de Confiance.

      Jim Andrisani is the Senior Electronic Records Analyst with NYC Economic Development Corporation.  Jim is responsible for developing and implementing electronic records management strategies, processes, and systems for the EDC's electronic information assets, including on-going planning, developing, and implementing an electronic records management program. He provides highly complex consulting services and technical assistance to Records Management and other EDC departments. Jim is currently Project leader for the re-casting of NYC EDC’s records retention schedules from departmental to functional schedules.

    Prior to joining NYC EDC, Jim was Records Analyst; Tishman Speyer Properties, where he was responsible for making key corporate documents available electronically for all global employees.
